Situation of production & business and construction & investment in October 2018:
In October 2018, the electricity output of EVNGENCO1 reached 2,822 million kWh, accounting for 108% of the output planned in October and 146% of output in the same period of 2017. Of which, hydroelectricity output reached 692 million kWh and thermal power output valued at 2,020 million kWh. For the first 10 months of 2018, the electricity output of the Corporation was 26,656 million kWh, achieving 77.5% of the year plan and accounting for 112.3% of the output in the same period last year.
Hydropower Plants operated in a stable manner. However, water volume in the reservoirs was very low. To specify, water flow in Ban Ve reservoir accounted for 65% of frequent level. Water flow in the remaining reservoirs (Dai Ninh, Dong Nai 3&4, Da Nhim, Ham Thuan, Song Tranh) reached over 95% of frequent level. In the first ten months, the availability of hydropower plants has met the assigned targets, producing extra 1.108 million kWh compared to the planned output.
Thermal power units operated stably and were mobilized with an average capacity of about 80% of of production capacity. For the first 10 months of the year, the availability of thermal power units was lower than the planned targets, some units were stopped for back-up plan in the third quarter, resulting in lower electricity output compared to the plan. Especially, in October, the Corporation has completed the repair work before FAC issuance for S2 unit (Duyen Hai 3) and put it into operation.
EVNGENCO1 also focused on fuel supply to ensure continuous power generation. Currently, the coal supply for thermal power plants basically meets the demand. Besides, the Corporation also concentrated on building solutions to improve coal handling capacity for Duyen Hai 1 Thermal Power Plant. EVNGENCO1 is performing the contract of purchasing 1 million tons of coal and expects to sign another contract of purchasing 1 million tons of coal in November to ensure sufficient coal for operation of 02 units and increase coal reserves in Duyen Hai 3 to reach a maximum level at the end of December. Repair and maintenance work, occupational health and safety and fire prevention of EVNGENCO 1 have always been of special concern.
Regarding construction and investment, for projects invested by EVNGENCO1, the value of implemented volume in October 2018 was VND 222,031 million. In the first 10 months, the value of implemented volume and the disbursement value were VND 10,961 billion (accounting for 85.94% of the year plan) and VND 10,811 billion (accounting for 85% of the year plan), respectively. For Extended Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant Project (EVN is the investor; EVNGENCO1, represented by Thermal Power Project Management Board No.3, is the project management consulting unit), the value of implemented volume and the total disbursement value in the first 10 months were VND 1,688.138 million (accounting for 27.63% of the year plan) and VND 1,942 billion (accounting for 31.8% of the year plan), respectively.
EVNGENCO1 has completed final settlement of Extended Uong Bi 2 Project and phase 5th settlement of Ban Ve Hydropower project. The settlement of other projects are on schedule. The Corporation is also arranging capital for key projects as planned.
The construction and investment of key projects such as Extended Duyen Hai 3 and Extended Da Nhim has humble changes. However, EVNGENCO1 has set strong determination to urge the Contractor to complete the works to meet the target schedules in 2018.
In terms of equitization of the parent company - Power Generation Corporation 1, The Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved the land using plan of the Corporation in the provinces where its power plants are located. The Corporation has also sent the documents to the People’s Committees of Quang Ninh and Thanh Hoa provinces for the opinions on the land using plan after equitization of EVNGENCO1.
Key objectives in August 2018:
In November 2018, EVNGENCO1 shall strive to fulfill the task of producing 2.609 million KWh of electricity as assigned, including hydroelectricity of 352 million kWh and thermal power of 2,257 million kWh. Hydropower plants shall optimize the use of water resources and carry out the inter-reservoir regulatory procedure and water supply for the lowland. The thermal power plants shall optimize the output according to the requirement of the National Load Dispatch Centre.
In addition, the Corporation shall continue to accelerate the consumption of slag and ash at Duyen Hai Electricity Center. In the first quarter of 2019, the Corporation shall put the flying ash discharge system through Duyen Hai seaport into operation. Besides, the thermal power plants are required to complete the “Slag and ash consumption Project”, continue implementing the blended coal combustion in Duyen Hai and find the solutions for blended coal combustion in Nghi Son Power Plant.
Especially, EVNGENCO1 also focuses on the solutions to ensure sufficient coal for electricity production. In particular, the Corporation shall sign principal contract with TKV for long-term coal supply (25 years) and sign the contract of purchasing coal in 2019 for power plants using domestic coal. At the same time, the Corporation shall strive to improve the coal handling capacity at Duyen Hai Electricity Center, upgrade the laboratories to meet VILAS standards to be qualified for doing inspection of domestic coal purchasing contracts. For imported coal supply, EVNGENCO1 shall sign a contract to buy 1 million tons of imported coal (2nd phase) for Duyen Hai 3 TPP in November 2018. The Corporation also plans to approve the coal importing plan in 2019-2020 period and the period after 2020 to have basis for implementation
In the last period of 2018, EVNGENCO 1 will also focus on maintenance and repair, completing the remedy of S7 unit (Uong Bi) to put the unit into operation in 2018. The electricity market work shall also be concerned, with the purpose to sign the electricity sale contract for Nghi Son Thermal Power Plant.
Regarding construction and investment, EVNGENCO 1 shall strictly monitor the progress and the quality of the construction works according to current regulations. Specifically, for Extended Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant Project, the Corporation has requested the contractor to synchronously implement the solutions to ensure the target schedules. For Da Nhim Hydropower project (extended), the Corporation has directed the Owner which is Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower JSC to urge the contractor to accelerate the process of tunneling by TBM machine, and study and implement the alternative solutions to ensure electricity generation schedule.
The equitization of EVNGENCO1 shall also be focused. In particular, the Corporation shall complete the approval of the land and housing handling plan and implement equitization plan under the direction of EVN.
