Established in 1994, Thermal Power Project Management Board 3 (TPMB3) was initially named Phu My Thermal Power Plant Works Management Board; in 1995, it was renamed to "Phu My - Ba Ria Plant Management Board" affiliated to Vietnam Electricity Corportation, and until April 14, 2003, its name was officially changed into the Thermal Power Project Management Board 3 in accordance with the Decision made by Board of Directors of the Vietnam Electricity.
The Board has functions of managing investment preparation tasks and performing investment on thermal power works; implementing some consulting tasks such as consulting on construction inspection of thermal power projects and synchronization electric grid works, on cost estimation verification and general estimation of works, on preparation of the bid document and bidding evaluation and on management and operation of thermal power projects.
TPMB3 has completely fullfiled some thermal power projects of gas turbine and steam turbine at the Phu My Electricity Center with total capacity of 1974 MW, including thermal power projects: Phu My 1 (1090MW); Phu My 2 (288MW); Phu My 2.1 (160MW); Phu My 2.1 (276 MW); and Phu My 2.1 (160MW).
It also completely implemented some works of 500kV lines and stations to load power from the plants such as Phu My 4, Phu My 2.2, Phu My 3; to connect 220kV with the Phu My 1, and other line & station works of 220/110kV.
At present, TPMB3 is managing coal fired thermal power projects at Duyen Hai - Tra Vinh Electricity Center, including: Duyen Hai 1 power plant project (1200 MW); Duyen Hai 2 (1200MW); Duyen Hai 3 (600MW); Huyen Hai Electricity Center Sea Port (12 million ton/year), Oil Berge with 1,000 DWT for operation of power plants.
Objectives of TPMB3 is to do well tasks of construction management for the projects affiliated to Duyen Hai - Tra Vinh Electricity Center in progress and make sure quality. It is also preparing a good human resource to take over and carry out operation when the plants are put into operation. TPMB3 is striving to build itself to become a more and more powerful and professtional unit of EVNGENCO1.
