Being located in the North-East of Quang Ninh Province, in Ha Khanh Ward of beautiful Ha Long City, which is famous for keeping the biggest coal deposit of the whole country, Quang Ninh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company (QNTP) is at a more-unfavorable-position for producion and supply of electric enegery sources into the National Grid system.
QNTP was promoted by shareholders including EVN (80% of shares); Vietnam Coal Corporation; Vietnam Machinary Installation Corporation; it is assigned to be the owner of two projects: Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plant Project No. 1 and Quang Ninh No. 2 with total capacity of 1,200 MW, output of 7.2 billion kWh/year . QNTP is very significant to enhance reliability of supplying power for the economic triangle zone, i.e Hải Phòng - Hà Nội - Quảng Ninh; to reduce investment capital in building the network 110/220 KV at this area and to become one of the biggest thermal power centers of the whole country.
QNTP plant uses the advanced pulverized-coal-fired boiler technology, installs modern equipment for the hardest treatment of environment to minimize affects from operations of the plant on environment. According to the waste treatment system of QNTP plant, it is capable to treat 104.7 cubic meter per hour, and there are three exhaust treatment systems: Electro Static Precipitation System, Flue Gas Demineralization System, Chimney System. The plant has fixed with the automatic monitors for environment parameters to measure contents of O2, CO2, CO, NOx, SOx, exhaust dirts, then to adjust combustion. These three systems meet requirements of Vietnam environment standards.
Currently, leaders and all staff of the Company are stably operating two units of the Quang Ninh 1, striving to put 02 units of the Quang Ninh 2 into commercial power generation in 2013 and building QNTP to become a typical thermal power plant.
