Reducing impact of Da Mi solar power plant to local environment

Executing commitment with Asian Development Bank (ADB) to reduce impact of Da Mi solar power project to social and environment at project area, DHD Company has installed bird deflectors along 110kV transmission lines from Da Mi solar power plant to the connection point with Ham Thuan - Duc Link 110kV transmission lines.

According to Environmental Social Management Plant (ESMP) in Facility Agreement which has been signed between DHD and ADB, beside contents to reduce impact of the Project to local environment, ADB requested DHD to install bird deflectors to avoid electrical affect from 110 kV transmission lines to wild birds. Bird deflectors which are installed at Da Mi solar power project including weathercocks and insulator shields.

Installing bird deflectors on 110kV transmission lines

Weathercock (DC001) is an equipment running automatically basing nature wind. This equipment is made of ABS plastic which can withstand UV ray from the sun. Wing of this weathercock is equipped mirrors which can reflect 3600 without any dead-point. Weathercock’s supporter structure is made of galvanized steel or ABS plastic. The weathercock has diameter of 60cm and can work at wind velocity from 0,3m/s.

Insulator shield (DC003) is made of composite plastic, in red color with diameter of 80cm. Under the sun light, this shield can prevent birds to build nests beside protect insulators from wastes of birds simultaneously. By preventing birds to land and build nests under insulators, this equipment can reduce electrical troubles caused by birds and avoid mortality of individuals along transmission lines.

Da Mi solar power project was started construction works in 2017 and has been put into commercial operation since 01 June 2019. At present, DHD has adapted sufficiently requirements from ADB related to environmental and social management stated at Facility Agreement signed on 26 September 2019.
