Mr. Do Duc Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, launched the "Lunar New Year tree planting" campaign at the Uong Bi Thermal Power Company.
In his speech at the ceremony, Mr. Do Duc Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, stated that they have coordinated with the EVN to issue an inter-sectoral directive on organizing Lunar New Year tree planting campaigns and responding to the program of planting and caring for 1 million new trees in the period of 2021-2025. The Vietnam Electricity Trade Union has directed and guided all levels of trade unions to coordinate with professionals to participate in the lifelong Lunar New Year tree planting movement to express gratitude to Uncle Ho. A notable example of this competitive movement is the EVNGENCO1, with a target of planting and caring for 50,000 new trees in the period of 2021-2025. He also called on employees throughout the EVN, , EVNGENCO1, and the Uong Bi Thermal Power Company to continue focusing on planting green trees to build a green, clean, beautiful, and safe environment and contribute to the successful achievement of the EVN’s goals.
According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Khoa - BOD Chairman of EVNGENCO1, up to now, EVNGENCO1 has planted 25,294 trees of various kinds, achieving over 50% of the set plan. In particular, the Trade Union of Uong Bi Thermal Power Company has planted and is taking care of 1,082 trees of various kinds. This is a highly commendable result, and he affirmed that environmental protection work is always considered a top priority task that cannot be separated from the good performance of production and business tasks by the leadership and employees of the company.
490 new trees were planted around the premises of the Uong Bi Thermal Power Company right after the launching ceremony.
64 years ago, on November 28, 1959, Uncle Ho (Ho Chi Minh) issued a call to the entire nation to participate in planting trees and forests and launched the "Tree Planting Festival". Since then, "Tree Planting Festival, always remembering Uncle Ho" has become a good traditional cultural feature of the people, opening up a tree planting movement to grow forests on every occasion of the Lunar New Year. Remembering and following Uncle Ho's teachings "Spring is the time for planting trees, making the country more and more prosperous," our people have organized the tree planting festival. With that spirit, for many years, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, EVNGENCO1 Trade Union, as well as the Uong Bi Thermal Power Company, have regularly launched the "Tree Planting Festival" to implement and follow Uncle Ho's teachings. Green tree planting has become an important activity, a regular activity of units within Power Generation Corporation 1, with the desire to spread it as a widespread and sustainable mass movement, building a beautiful and clean landscape and environment.

During the ceremony, to create a spirit of hard work and a lively competitive atmosphere, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year - the year of the Rooster 2023, the Trade Union of Vietnam Electricity presented gifts, encouraged and visited employees who were heading out to work on various projects in the new year, with the determination to excellently fulfill the production and business plan of the unit in 2023.
