EVNGENCO1’s Technical - Safety Management Conference in 2019

On June 20th-21st 2019, in Da Nang City, Power Generation Corporation 1 and Song Tranh Hydropower Company jointly organized the Technical - Safety Management Conference in 2019. The conference is an important event which has been expected by the technical sectors of such a direct power generating corporation as EVNGENCO1.

Overview of the conference

The conference was attended by Mr. Nguyen Tien Khoa - Chairman of the Board of Members and senior leaders of the Corporation, some related departments and other subsidiaries, member & affiliciated companies of EVNGENCO1. Particularly, some distinguished guest delegations including EVN, Siemens Group AG, Idemitsu Kosan JSC also took part in the confernce.

The conference was presided by Mr. Nguyen Tien Chuong – Vice President

“The conference is an opportunity for units to present hot issues related to the technical and safety field, good points and not good ones. After that, such issues will be analyzed by leading managers and engineers throughout the Corporation. This will be the biggest and most effective opportunity to learn and share experiences with the technical sector” said by Mr. Nguyen Tien Chuong, Vice President of EVNGENCO1.

The conference discussed, exchanged and shared experiences on Technical - Safety Management activities; outlined the views on the role and relationship between the production block and the business sector in implementing the assigned objectives. In addition, the conference was about the status of technician teams and specialized technicians to support operation and maintenance in thermal power plants; causes and remedies for typical incidents; procurement of materials and equipment for maintenance and repair, solutions for management of materials and equipment in power plants, optimization of costs. The conference also pointed out difficulties and troubles in the implementation, then the management levels of the Corporation will have got an overview of the current Technical & Safety Management at present and oriented for the further steps.

The key issues related to EVNGENCO1's Technical & Safety work were concluded as follows:

  • Updating and exchanging information between the two sectors, i.e power production and electricity trading sectors would always affect on the operation results of each sector, of each power plant and the whole in general.
  • The very important role of the workshop technician team would have a great influence on the production efficiency at the workshop and would be is the focal point for connecting the electricity production and electricity business.
  • Completion of the Heat Mechanics sheets is of great significance to ensure occupational safety for employees during the process of equipment maintenance and repair at the plants.
  • It is assessed that the majority of incidents had been caused by human factor; the device factor only accounts for a small part. Particularly, it is to seriously appreciate the role of persons who are responsible for inspecting the equipment status, properly assess the equipment status, then giving appropriate suggestions and corrections.
  • The Corporation is now drastically making many solutions to effectively manage spare parts at units for the repair and maintenance of equipment in power plants, and to ensure the availability of each plant.
  • Accessing advanced technologies and creating communication channels with experts in the world in the field of power plants will positively contribute to help the Corporation to overcome serious problems, as well as improve the existing equipment line at the Corporation. In order to continuously improve the operation, efficiency, safety of the power plant, management leaders at all levels in the Corporation need to catch up with the new technology trends in the world, and bravely apply to the Corporation.

The success of the Conference contributes to promoting propaganda and mobilizing employees to improve their sense of responsibility, actively participate in innovation to complete the tasks and technical and economic targets which have been assigned by EVN.
