EVNGENCO1: Power supply is ensured to be the top goal

Hydropower continues to be the bright spot of Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1) with exceeding the assigned power output plan in May and the first 5 months of 2022. The above information was announced at the meeting held on June 7, 2022 at the headquarters of EVNGENCO1.

Ensuring power supply is the top goal

In May 2022, the frequency of water entering the hydropower reservoirs of EVNGENCO1 continued to improve. Operation and maintenance work basically ensured quality and approved schedule. However, the average daily load in May decreased compared to the same period in 2021 and the 2022 plan of Ministry of Industry and Trade. The total electricity output produced by EVNGENCO1 in May 2022 is 2,706 million kWh; accumulated in the first five months of 2022, the total electricity output produced by EVNGENCO1 is 13,203 million kWh, reaching 43.9% of the assigned plan in 2022.  The hydropower of which exceeded the assigned power output plan in May, reaching 124.2 percent (for dependent accounting units) and 131.5 percent (for subsidiaries and affiliates) respectively.

The hydropower unit of EVNGENCO1 has continuously exceeded the power output plan in recent months

Coal supply for thermal power plants is still one of the top priorities of EVNGENCO1 in the current period. According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Thinh – President & CEO of EVNGENCO1, the Corporation has made every effort to implement comprehensive solutions to ensure enough coal for electricity production. As a result, the Uong Bi, Nghi Son 1 and Quang Ninh Thermal Power Plants have met enough coal for operating needs as required by the system and maintained coal inventories higher than the minimum norm. The situation at Duyen Hai 3 and Duyen Hai 3 Ext. Thermal Power Plants has also improved significantly. Meanwhile, despite many difficulties, EVNGENCO1 is still putting all its efforts so that Duyen Hai 1 Thermal Power Plant will achieve the optimal inventory level under the EVN’s instruction by the end of June.

EVNGENCO1 aims to exceed the assigned power output in June

In June 2022, EVNGENCO1 set a production target of 3,113.7 million kWh, exceeding the plan assigned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN on the basis of strengthening repair and maintenance work, ensuring coal supply for production of thermal power plants, and operating stably, complying with regulations on inter-reservoir operation procedures with hydropower plants.

In particular, in order to prepare well for the upcoming rainy and stormy season, EVNGENCO1 will carry out many solutions to safely operate hydropower plants in the upcoming rainy and stormy season; preventing and mitigating damages caused by storms and floods for people in the lowlands. Two main groups of solutions include carrying out a general inspection of the project such as equipment maintenance, test operation of the spillway valve gates, etc., and promoting propaganda at the local to help people have full awareness about the role of hydropower plants in regulating water as well as preventing natural disasters.

Driving new strides

In parallel with the task of electricity production, EVNGENCO1 is still implementing construction investment projects according to the assigned schedule; the settlement work basically meets the requirements set forth. By the end of May, the construction investment volume of EVNGENCO1 reached 41.2% and the disbursement value reached 42% of the 2022 plan (including disbursement for the implementation volume of the he previous year). EVNGENCO1 expressed its desire to open up new steps when Mr. Nguyen Tien Khoa - Chairman of the Board of Directors affirmed that EVNGENCO1 would conduct surveys and search for investment projects in new power sources, in which priority will be given to renewables such as energy resources of offshore wind power in the near future.

The digital transformation tasks continue to be actively implemented by EVNGENCO1 with the focus on the Digital Transformation Roadmap, the roadmap for modernization of information technology infrastructure, IT and OT security in the period 2022 - 2025, orientations to 2030 and the Project on equipping information technology infrastructure for digital transformation at the EVNGENCO1 Hearquarter. EVNGENCO1 held the Launching Ceremony of SmartEVN platform - an application for employees in the Electricity of Vietnam - to officially put into use at the Corporation's Office from May 1, 2022 and will be deployed throughout the Corporation after having eligible.
